Lameness examinations are the "foot of the matter." A healthy foot leads to a healthy cow or bull. Proper diagnosis of conditions and diseases of the claws, hoof, interdigital space, and foot can aid in overall cattle well-being and welfare.
Diseases such as Digital dermatitis (hairy-heel warts) and foot rot are infections but have specific treatments. Other foot conditions may be caused by the cow's environment, housing, or poor free-stall design.
We can also evaluate on a herd-level the amount of lameness in your herd to identify necessary improvements for cattle welfare and production.
